Having been raised on a small, family farm – I am used to hard work and long hours.

A life-long North Carolinian, I have lived in Raleigh since 1982. I graduated from North Carolina State University in 1990 with a Master’s Degree in Chemistry. I worked eight years in Research Triangle Park for Becton Dickinson. My research at BD lead to over 30 United States patents and allowed me to develop my ability to find solutions to our research goals.

In 1998, I decided to leave research. I was intrigued by business and specifically the mortgage industry – so I pursued a career in home lending. I began my lending career with First Financial Services as a loan officer and quickly became a top producing loan officer. The skills I learned in science have given me the ability to solve problems, essential in the mortgage industry.

In 2004 I joined Corporate Investors Mortgage Group. Looking back to my old research days, I am sure I made the right decision to become a lender. Despite the challenges our industry offers in 2020, I really love what I do.

As lending guidelines have tightened and lending has become more and more selective, we know it is important to choose a lender who can get the job done. Through my affiliation with CIMG, Inc., Your Home Lending Team offers state of the art procedures at every step on the lending process.

Born and raised in Raleigh and a graduate of Enloe High School and UNC-Chapel Hill, I am a tried and true Tarheel! I started in the mortgage industry as a mortgage processor in 1998. Dan I and started working together in early 1999 and we have been a team ever since.

I love being able to help people achieve their dream of homeownership. Whether purchasing their first home, moving to a new home that better fits their needs, or refinancing to put themselves in a better financial situation, I work hard to ensure a smooth process through underwriting and closing.

When not working I love spending time with family, hanging out at the beach, being out and about with my four-legged girl, and cheering on my UNC Tarheels.

 

Mara Bergholz, Loan Coordinator

Once the application has been completed, I am the point of contact for the borrower for status updates, questions, document requests, and post-closing. I am the team member who will reach out to the borrowers if there is anything needed post closing.

I am originally from Pennsylvania, where I attended Clarion University, studying psychology. I joined the Air Force in 2003 and was a staff sergeant. I have been with Corporate Investors Mortgage Group for about 10 years and have been a part of the Woodard Mortgage Group for 2 years. My husband, Trevor, and I have a three-year-old daughter named Isla, who keeps us busy! Trevor was also in the Air Force and served in Italy, Afghanistan, and Djibouti, Africa.

I like the people of North Carolina, and enjoy the beach, the mountains, and all of the live music NC has to offer. In my time off I love to run, hike, and eat. I enjoy being part of this team and working with people to obtain their home.

 

Bill Barnes, Mortgage Specialist

I have been in finance for 20 years, working with investments, direct sales, and mortgages. I have a bachelor’s degree from UNC Greensboro. The thing I enjoy most about the mortgage business is helping people get a positive cash flow and the best terms available for the biggest investment they will ever make, their home.

Although I grew up in South Carolina, I have strong ties to North Carolina as my mother grew up here. I have been an NC resident since 1996. North Carolina is a beautiful state, and I like the changing seasons. However, I’m still a big Clemson Tiger fan! I have two kids, a son and a daughter, and enjoy spending time with them. I also enjoy hunting and fishing. I’m the newest member of the team, and excited to be a part of it.

 

Elaine Ihrie, Marketing Coordinator

I handle marketing for the team, including social media and customer appreciation. I have a BS degree in psychology from Barton College, and a master’s degree in Elementary Curriculum from Gardner Webb University. I worked as a social worker for 12 years, and as teacher of Exceptional Children for 18 years.

During my years teaching I partnered with a school Sierra Leone, in order to expand global awareness for my students. I learned this school was started by a former child soldier in order to provide an education to children in the slums, who could not afford it otherwise. I now serve along with this teacher, on the board of SHARP, whose mission is to provide housing, farming, and schools for the people in the flood prone slums. Woodard Mortgage Group has been very helpful in supporting this cause.

I’m a lifelong resident of North Carolina. I enjoy the four seasons we have here, and the variety of landscapes from mountains to coast, although I have had fun traveling to see other parts of the world. In my free time I enjoy being outside, and of course my grandchildren.
